Victor D’Altorio is a coach, director, teacher and actor.
He is a graduate of Northwestern University’s department of Theater, and also of the William Esper Studio in New York City, where he was trained in the formal 2-year Meisner program by Mr. Esper.
He was Chicago’s most recommended acting teacher from 1990-99, offering Meisner-based acting and master scene study classes at The Actors’ Center, and has worked as an actor, director, teacher and coach in Los Angeles since the turn of the century!
He is the winner of the LA Weekly Critics Award for Best Director for his own adaptation of Robert Coover’s short story The Babysitter.
Other favorite directing projects include N. Keifer’s Talking Minks off-Broadway at the Judith Anderson Theater with Richard Schiff (Emmy award, The West Wing), All the King’s Men with Paul Sorvino, the premier production of Mr. Sorvino’s theater, The American Stage Company, Don DeLillo’s The Day Room at The Court Theater in LA, and his own adaptation of Mary Gaitskill’s grimly ironic short story, A Romantic Weekend, starring Megan Mullally (Emmy winner, Will and Grace) at Arcade in LA. Victor has also taught Meisner-based communication skills for teens at high risk for HIV infection through LA Shanti’s STAHR! Program, which he co-founded with John Copeland.
